Artistic Vision

As an artist, I am interested in exploring the contrasting elements of the human condition, which I see as a confluence of compassion and confidence, logic and instinct, and strength and grace. As a dancer, I try to embody a visceral connection to the music and a commitment to the audience; both drive my ambition and flow. As a choreographer, I aim to embrace ambiguity and the unknown, creating experiences of wonder.

Shifting between my roles as a dancer and choreographer means constantly re-evaluating my innate instincts as a mover and as a thinker. I seek to be thoroughly engaged and curious about the art I am creating and the philosophical implications it may have. I find it important to work closely with other artists, not only by seeking their insights on the material we are building but also by directly addressing the reason we are creating a piece.

During my time at Juilliard I have had the opportunity to work with several musicians and actors including composition majors, drama majors, and Juilliard professors. I have produced several cross divisional pieces for Juilliard’s dance workshop series, including a dance-theater adaptation of Waiting for Godot, and a solo with an improvisational score of music. I find collaborations like these vital to the livelihood of all art, and a point of interest in my career going forward.

I am so grateful for the abundance of dance I have been able to experience, and I hope to provide opportunities for imaginative engagement through dance to a wide and diverse range of audiences throughout my career. Ultimately I aim to have a lifelong career in the arts as a dancer and a creator, setting works for people and organizations around the world.
